Automatic Control & Electrical Systems 2018 (ACES 2018)

The France Excellence 2018 Summer School "Automatic Control & Electrical Systems 2018" will take place from July 2nd to July 27th 2018 in University of Lille.

“Automatic Control & Electrical Systems” (ACES 2018)

From the theory to innovative applications.

-> HIGHLIGHTS

The 2018 France Excellence Summer School “Automatic Control & Electrical Systems” (ACES 2018) is coorganised by the Communauté d’Universités et Établissements Lille Nord de France (ComUE LNF) and the University of Lille - Science and Technology.

ACES 2018 will focus on the fundamental aspects of control, observation and electrical systems. Particular emphasis will be laid on hybrid systems, embedded and networked control systems, electrical vehicles and renewable energy systems, capable of inventing and developing new breakthroughs and technological developments.

This Summer School will provide, on an advanced and lively scientific campus, high-standard, English-taught classes, meetings with top-tier researchers in the field as well as an introduction to research through a supervised project.

ECTS credits will be delivered to the student attendees. A personalised Certificate of Completion will be provided to each participant for their achievements.

All the information regarding this Summer School will be available by December 15th on the following website:

aces2018.cue-lillenorddefrance.fr

-> Seizing the chance to discover the research community in a leading university in automation and electrical systems, with a perspective to integrate a PhD in France.

A sustainable development is a key challenge for the XXIst century. More and more, electrical systems and smart systems are at the core of innovation to face this challenge. Electrical systems will enable to ensure energy production from renewable energy, and also significantly increase global efficiency while reducing the pollutant

emissions. Smart systems will enable an increase of the global efficiency while ensuring a high level of reliability and safety. Automatic control and electrical systems are thus important skills for developing innovative systems such as “smart grids” and “autonomous and electric vehicles”.

The scientific programme will be organised by the CRIStAL research laboratory (Centre de Recherche en Informatique, Signal et Automatique de Lille, 400 members, www.cristal.univ-lille.fr) and the L2EP research laboratory (Laboratory on Electrical Energy and Power electronics, 100 members, l2ep.univ-lille1.fr) which are two of the most renowned centres of computer science, power electronics and automatic control in Northern France.

The CRIStAL and L2EP research laboratories offer PhD theses on various topics including automatic control and electrical systems. Globally ¼ of the PhD are co-supervised with international universities (Canada, China, Europe, North Africa, etc.) and ¼ of the PhD are in collaboration with the industrial world (Alstom, PSA Peugeot Citroën, Renault, Siemens, etc.).

The L2EP research laboratory has annually held an international Summer School “Energetic Macroscopic Representation, modelling and control of electric vehicles and other applications” since 2006 (even year in Lille, odd year abroad, www.emrwebsite.org). The 2008 edition was organised in Harbin (China). This experience will benefit the ACES 2018 Summer School.

CRIStAL has a joint research laboratory with NUST (Nanjing University of Sciences and Technology), focused on automatic control: LaFCAS (lafcas.univ-lille1.fr).

The University of Lille - Science and Technology has two joint double Master degrees with Chinese universities: HIT (Harbin Institute of Technology) and NUST (Nanjing University of Sciences and Technology). The best Chinese students are then selected to continue in co-supervised PhD degrees in the L2EP or CRIStAL research laboratories.

-> Broadening your international experience under enjoyable and secure conditions in the most dynamic area of North-West Europe, with full access to the francophone world.

Midway between Paris, London and Brussels, you will be given the opportunity to learn French, discover French society and culture and visit historical and natural sites of the Hauts-de-France region. Cultural and social events will enable you to meet other international students and communicate in Chinese, English and French in a relaxed and festive atmosphere.

The cultural and linguistic programme, as well as the welcome services (accommodation and catering included), will be offered by the International Academy, the Summer University for international students at the Communauté d’Universités et Établissements Lille Nord de France.

The International Academy is devoted to offering services to international students incoming on pre-PhD degrees, filling the requirements of the France Excellence Programme that focuses on potential integration of a PhD in France.

The linguistic and socio-cultural programme ensures your full immersion into the life of the International Academy summer campus, which will admit, during the summer, students worldwide on individual mobility or on an exchange programme with France. The International Academy fosters integration and interactive exchange between students from various disciplines.
