Sorbonne School of Economics Summer School on International Economics and Sustainable Global Development

The Sorbonne School of Economics is offering a summer school on International Economics and Sustainable Global Development. This pre-doctoral program will take place from June 18th to July 15th 2017 in Paris.

Sorbonne School of Economics Summer School on International Economics and Sustainable Global Development

In order to improve the quality and quantity of recruitment of Chinese students in PhD programs for French universities, the French embassy in China and Campus France Agency implemented the "Ecole d’été France Excellence" (France Excellence Summer School). To improve the possible contacts, make the opportunity of a thesis more visible, help potential supervisors meet and assess future students, the embassy supports the organization of summer schools dedicated to the initiation to research for Chinese students in particular.

The Sorbonne School of Economics is offering a summer school on International Economics and Sustainable Global Development as a response to this call for projects. This program will include a mix of Chinese students and other international students to train them in research on international economics and globalization and to sensitize them in this framework on themes of research on sustainable development. The students of the summer school will have courses with students from Paris 1 following summer courses on international economics within the framework of an existing cooperation with Fudan and UIBE.

The combination of Chinese and non-Chinese audiences will provide an opportunity for all participants to learn to work in a multicultural environment.  The teaching method will mix theoretic course lectures and methodology with collective work organized in small groups allowing to mix Chinese and non-Chinese students to prepare a report on a specific subject under the supervision of the teaching team.

Interaction with other events and programs offered:

This summer school will be offered in collaboration with the summer semester that we organize every year for our Double Degree Master in Economics programs with Fudan University and UIBE. The new orientation given to sustainable development will lead us to introduce additional courses in relation to this summer semester. It will also take place as part of a new initiative at Paris 1 to create a multidisciplinary graduate school on sustainable development, Sorbonne Sustainable Development, which will be associated with this summer school. This should provide students with a multidisciplinary perspective, even if the training is aimed at economists.

Applications open to Master Students in Economics, PhD Students, Post-Doctoral Students (background should include training in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics, Calculus).
