ISIT is higher education institution which, since 1957, has trained translators and conference interpreters of international organizations and multilingual managers of large companies. As part of its many partnerships and international relations, ISIT has developed a special relationship with China. Thus, ISIT has signed partnerships with 5 Chinese universities for academic mobility, research mobility, intercultural mobility of staff and students, as well as double degrees with French, English and Chinese: BISU, SISU, BFSU, BLCU, GDUFS. Demand for profiles with the combination of French / English / Chinese, A, B or C, but also Chinese / English and another language, has increased in recent years in international organizations and multinationals.

University of Nanterre: Doctoral school “Literature, Languages, Drama”

The Doctoral School 138 "Literature, Languages, Drama", created in 2000, brings together lecturer-researchers and doctoral students in literary disciplines (French, French and Comparative literatures), foreign languages, literature and civilizations (English, Spanish). German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian), performing arts (theater, ethnological cinema and fiction) and aesthetics.
The doctoral school is a center of internationally recognized excellence, and is part of the historical trajectory that has made the University Paris Nanterre a national and international reference in particular in the human and social sciences.
Doctor from the Doctoral school 138 have an impressive rate of employability in higher education and research benefitting from significant support and supervision from the academic staff. It is one of the largest doctoral schools in its scientific field both at Paris region level and in the country. It’s international dimension is seen in the number of foreign doctoral students enrolled from Europe, Africa, Asia and America, as well as the number of co-supervised theses.


Airport pickup:
ISIT will pick up the students at Paris Airport and will accompany them to their accommodation in the Cité Internationale Universitaire campus.

breakfast in the CIUP cafeteria, lunch at ISIT. Dinners are not included in the fees but students have access to shared kitchen facilities.

ISIT will provide a Navigo pass for travel throughout the metro and RER network

•   Better identify and understand one’s own cultural identity in interaction with other cultures

•   Know and use cross-cultural theory and recent research in cross-cultural communication

New Media Literacy (3x2h): Jennifer Takhar
•    Focus on new media literacy
•    Help students understand the implications of participatory culture(s)
•    Assess the new ways media is consumed and produced.


Development of a research project and Research Methodology (2x3h): Louis-Marie Clouet & Ludovica Maggi
•    How to choose a PhD subject and select a research question
•    How to structure a PhD project
•    How to structure a PhD thesis
•    Research methods: qualitative, quantitative, experimental, corpus-based, observation-based
•    How to analyze and present findings

Applied Terminology (3x2h): Pascale Elbaz
•    Perform documentary research and create a corpus of texts
•    Create domain trees in each cultural area (CH / EN or CH / FR)
•    Extract the most relevant terms and create a terminological record for each selected term
•    Conduct a comparative analysis of each term and its equivalent(s)

New Media Literacy, workshop : Jennifer Takhar
•    Defining the unique features of Web 2.0 media
•    Analyzing online ad campaigns
•    Understanding the 20 C's of digital value propositions and prosumption (Ritzer 2008)

Initiation to Corpus Linguistics (3x2h): Stéphane Patin
•    Introduction : a tool-based, objective method for the analysis of digital corpora

- French courses/ French culture : 6h/week
The students of this summer school will share the French language courses and French culture courses with other international students registrated in other summer schools. It will be the opportunity for them to meet students from other nationalities and share an intercultural experience in Paris! They will also share as well the cultural visits.

Visits on Wednesday afternoons:
- Chateau of Versailles
- Museum of perfum Fragonard
- Louvre museum

Students are free during the week ends. As rooms are booked for one month so they can continue to enjoy Paris until Saturday 21st of July (meals and transportation are not covered by ISIT after the end of the summer school), rooms must be vacated before 9 am on July 21st.

The price does not include the trip from China to Paris.  

Accommodation, meals (except for dinners and meals during the weekends) and local transportation are all included.         
The summer school will deliver 5 ECTS credits.

The summer school has been designed for Chinese students and is open to other international students.

The French Embassy reserves a limited number of grants to students with an exceptional academic background. Grants cover the tuition fees but do not cover the trip from China to France.
